Davide Bishop is an admitted attorney with extensive experience in mining, environmental and commercial law. He advises clients of the firm on an ad hoc basis on commercial transactions and mining legislation.
Passionate about mining and environmental law, renewable energy and green technology, he thrives on providing individuals and organisations with simple solutions to complex legal challenges.
With a wide-ranging understanding of the South African mining and environmental space, he is well placed to ensure an organisation’s continued compliance with regulatory requirements.
Davide provides regulatory advice and opinions on the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), and advises on other relevant environmental and mining legislation that has been promulgated in line with the “One Environmental System”.
He acts for clients in regulatory appeals in terms of the MPRDA, in NEMA judicial reviews, and in environmental and mining litigation.
Furthermore, he conducts environmental legal compliance audits and
ISO 14001 compliance audits and reviews. He also participates in transactional matters, including drafting environmental and mining due diligence investigations and reports.
In addition, Davide advises hydroelectric developers on the required environmental permits and land-use authorisations, and on issues of land tenure and contract law related to securing a PPA to sell electricity on to the national grid.
His clients range from private individuals to public entities as well as small, medium and large corporations in various sectors.
